OSB Mill Arrangements

Following sale of its Ogdensburg NY OSB project in 2005, GFP commenced looking for a southern site for a new OSB mill and settled on a location in East Texas. As GFP was starting to make the necessary arrangements for such a mill, the US housing market entered a decline and it became apparent that no additional OSB mills would be required at that time.
Most raw material and other necessary arrangements for an OSB mill are similar to those for a wood pellet fuel plant. At the time of US housing decline, a demand for wood pellets arose in Europe for use as a CO2 neutral, renewable source fuel to substitute for coal, and secondarily as a substitute for heating oil. Through its newly-formed affiliate ForesTech Energy LLC, GFP developed raw material, site, permitting, port, and other requirements for a pellet plant in Texas. ForesTech sold its East Texas project to a European pellet producer.
GFP moved on from wood-based, renewable fuels to renewable solar energy in 2014, forming FTE Solar to undertake rooftop solar developments in Massachusetts. FTE presently has 24 rooftop solar systems in operation or under development with a capacity in excess of 2 mW.
